Email Settings and Problems
Email Settings
When configuring your email client to access the mail server provided for your use as a customer of Vogel Enterprises, you will need to know the following:"
- Your username - Your user name is typically the first part of your email address. Enter your user name (account name in Outlook Express) without the domain part. (use just the part before the @ sign.)
- Your password - If you have forgotten your password, contact us to have it reset.
- Incoming Mail server - Usually will be the domain name of your email address, preceded by "mail." (e.g. if your email address is somebody@savonburg.net, the incoming mail server would be... mail.savonburg.net. Similarly, if your email address is nobody@vogent.net, use mail.vogent.net as the incoming mail server. The mail server type is POP3.
- Outgoing mail server - Same as the incoming mail server. The outgoing server is an SMTP server.
- Do not use "secure" or authentication settings in your email client software to connect to the server.
WebMail Settings
A web interface to the mail server is provided for your convenience. You can use the web interface to access the mail you have received and is still on the mail server (has not been removed from the server by your email client software) from anywhere you have internet access.
To access the WebMail interface, simply browse to http://mail.vogent.net, or if you like, you can use the same domain as your email address as explained in the "Email Settings" section above. (e.g. http://mail.savonburg.net or http://mail.moranks.net).
Once you reach the login page for the web interface, use your username (the part of your email address before the @) and password to log in. Leave the mail server as 'localhost', as instructed on the login page. The first time you log in, you will need to set a couple of configuration options, such as changing the email address associated with the logged in user.
